NOT COMPROMISED: HUMANS and NATURE at their best!

NOT COMPROMISED: HUMANS and NATURE at their best!

viva voce on art, architecture and design

Birgit Lohmann and Massimo Mini, founders and former directors of designboom, present an innovative exhibition exploring new societal models through art, architecture and design. Directed by Pietro Mini and held at Liceo Classico Parini in Milan, the public is invited to contemplate unconventional perceptions through works emphasising sustainable solutions, including an outdoor furniture collection made from elephant dung by Boonserm Premthada. The exhibition highlights the non-anthropocentric coexistence of flora and fauna, advocating for a world where human presence safeguards rather than deteriorates. This new program foregrounds a commitment across education and public dialogue in advancing contemporary art practice.

NOT COMPROMISED presents an outdoor seating collection, commissioned to the Thai architect Boonserm Premthada. Elephant Footprint Seat are made of elephant dung and are a ’manifesto’ of his creative attitude. The prototypes, ‘pièces uniques’ and videos showing the artistic process will be displayed.

That experimentation is the true protagonist of these limited edition ‘mirabilia naturae’, is somehow humorous regarding nowadays trend for collectible design with a pedigree: Each seat has been created with the dung of a single elephant, documented by his ID card!

The first edition of NOT COMPROMISED focuses on Thailand, the country from which the three stories told in the videos on display originate. The three protagonists are Boonserm Premthada of Bangkok Project Studio, with the exceptional participation of Apiradee Kasemsook, Dean of Silpakorn University in Bangkok, and Chat Chuenrudeemol of CHAT Architects.
