In a surreal context, light becomes vital and dynamic.

Beyond Form, Project by Studio MILO

Studio MILO created a micro circular universe for Masiero’s exhibition at Fuorisalone 2023, in Milan’s Via Statuto 16.
Entitled “Beyond Form”, it reflects the overcoming of standards, the fragmentation of a single open space into multiple secret spaces, capable of generating wonder. As visitors explore the circular path of the installation, enhanced by curved walls and broken by optical lines on the floor, they are able to admire interior after interior.
The feeling is one of being suspended in a dreamlike, evocative, surreal world, where the new “Visio” lighting collection, designed by the young designer duo Nava + Arosio, takes on fluid forms and unexpected configurations.

The sunray arrangement of the display, ideally evocative of the structure of a carousel and the thrill of kinetics, reveals niches and uncovers corners in which organic, luminous shapes, reminiscent of mouths, eyes, noses and ears, speak, observe and hear one another through inverted-arch ‘theatre wings’.

The visitor experiences wonder in the distortion of proportions, in the fragmentation of organic shapes, suspended as in a dream and involved in a dialogue with the lamps on display.

The expressiveness of the “Visio” collection - here bright and fluorescent in its special 1980s colours, and intentionally reminiscent in its name of the word “vision” but also of the word “face” (in Italian “viso”) is amplified by the eclectic installation that mixes geometries and colour.

The concept of Visio calls to mind the surrealist world; layers of meaning to be discovered one by one in the many different possible configurations of its surface geometries; an ode to iconography and to the expressiveness of the face.

A brightly painted metal tube is curved to generate a face in its entirety or compositions of elements in the form of ceiling, floor and wall lamps, thus mixing mysticism with geometry to create unpredictable variations on the theme of creativity.

In the outdoor area of the venue in Via Statuto, the installation retains the avant-garde atmosphere of a stage design: the guiding thread is found in the sinuosity of the arched panels, through which hang the ceiling lamps of the new “Cordea” indoor and outdoor collection designed by Favaretto&Partners, here offered in unique finishes developed especially for Milan Design Week.
