Architect and designer Guillermo Santomà gives life to an immersive and sensorial journey that aims to explore the ephemeral and changing soul of light, bringing Catalan creativity to the international stage.
SPA is an artistic installation that wants to interpret the potential of the lighting sector, both in Catalonia and Barcelona, and ispromoted by the Government of Catalonia (ACCIÓ - Catalonia Trade & Investment) and the Barcelona City Council (Department of Creative Industries and Design Hub Barcelona), organized by BCD - Barcelona centre de Disseny and with SIMON as a concept partner.
The project, conceptualized by architect and designer Guillermo Santomà, aims to investigate how light acts on different bodies and how it transforms them, sculpting new forms each time. Inside a space that comes to life in Salone Scalabrini, at Church of Santa Maria del Carmine, there will be tactile and non-tactile material at different temperatures, energy flows, thermal inertia, hot and cold bodies contained in a single transitable architecture that translates into a true experiential journey.
The relationship of light and space with objects, apparently static, is actually fluid and changeable. Santomà explores matter as a source of energy, and invites visitors to do the same.
