COLMAR AGAIN
Colmar Again - How design can transform defects into art
After meeting the young Dutch designer Kees Dekkers, Colmar Again was born, a project where art meets the company in the year of its centennial, along the path of increasing awareness related to environmental sustainability.
Discarded or defective garments or their components (fabrics, webbing, buttons, logos), destined for the scrap heap, receive a second chance inside the No Waste Chair, a container chair made of recycled transparent plexiglass to make the contents visible, hence concrete.
Colmar Again thus becomes a Manifesto against waste and toward an ever-increasing optimization of the circularity of the production chain; a way to give new life to things through art, looking them straight in the face or, as in this case, sitting on them.
The project calls for 20 chairs, each filled differently and therefore unique, to be displayed during the Design Week period (April 17-23) at the store in Piazza Gae Aulenti in Milan with an evocative installation that is part of the Fuorisalone Brera District calendar. Each chair will then be shot in particular locations by photographer Paolo Belletti to further emphasize the project and keep it alive through subsequent exhibitions.
