Maison Pouenat unveils ARTI: a collection designed by Julien Scarbonchi
Julien Scarbonchi is self-taught. From his vacations in Corsica, he learned about trees, the feel of wood, and metalwork through knives made in the village cutlery shop.
Always in his imagination, his dreams and creations of the world took shape in his countless drawings. Until, at a very young age, he had a decisive encounter with a man who taught him the art of sculpting and metalworking through the creation of jewelry. He made it his profession.
For the past 25 years, he has been a creative director for jewelry brands. Ornamenting the body and his passion for art then led him to reflect on the interior of the home. The small object of jewelry took on a whole new dimension in Julien Scarbonchi’s abundantly creative mind, and in his hands, which never stop twisting, bending and curving metal.
Thus were born his tables, chairs, wall lamps, lighting fixtures... always with the principle of collaborating with artisans. Today, Julien Scarbonchi is published by Pouenat for his first collection: ARTI.
A single Corsican word to evoke his two passions: Art and Craftsmanship.
The 8 pieces in this collection are therefore conceived as works of art, sublimated by the exceptional skills of the finest craftsmen: ironworkers and cabinetmakers.
