DESERTS AND COLOURS: In Arid Lands among Crazy Colours
DESERTS AND COLOURS: In Arid Lands among Crazy Colours
For millennia the peoples of the deserts, from the Sahara to the Central Asian plateaus, have created carpets, tapestries, felts and mats simulating the infinite shades of their territory or have sometimes dared to use surprisingly bright colours in contrast with it. The Gallery presents a selection of primitive textiles that remind us of man’s ancient bond with nature and geology, among other things.
