SCULPTURAL COUTURE
Sculptural Couture draws from the atmosphere backstage at a fashion show: the moment before the runway, when form is adjusted through movement, touch and a final fold. This moment is translated into a design presentation in which space and objects are conceived as garments, with a skeleton, a skin, tension and visible seams.
Within this architectural garment, two designers shape the couture together.
The floor and table lamps by Jeroen De Ruddere act as boning that gives couture its structure. Wood, bronze, metal and textile define direction and posture within the space. The lamps reveal the seams and articulate the materials under light.
The armchair ‘Equilibria’, designed by Virginia Arlotto Studio, forms the skeletal structure. Its composition of cylinders, cubes and soft volumes refers to bones and joints: load-bearing elements held in equilibrium.
The rug ‘Terrasole’, designed by Virginia Arlotto Studio in collaboration with Malcusa, functions as the heart. Organic and radiant, its central form extends outward in rays connected by a metal loop. The rug recalls pattern pieces laid flat before assembly.
