April 20th – 26th, 2026
Via Montebello 27, 20121 - Milano
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Punk Witch takes shape inside a modernist apartment–showroom in the heart of Brera, originally designed by Armando Ronca and now reinterpreted by the award-winning Franco-Lebanese architect and designer Annabel Karim Kassar.
“Punk” because it breaks all the rules of design and interior architecture. “White Witch” because she has the power to evoke emotion and passion through physical space.
Imagine a house inside a library, rather than a library inside a house.
The project originates from the need to house more than 10,000 volumes from the collection of George Kerevan, Scottish economist, filmmaker, writer and journalist. Dominating the apartment and defining its geometry is a 33-linear-metre brushed-metal library designed by Annabel herself. Its structure traces the spatial configuration of the surrounding rooms: bedrooms, study and service areas. These spaces reflect the architect’s life across several countries — France, Lebanon, Morocco, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. Each encounter has enriched her creative process: some fabrics come directly from a Lebanese craft market, while others were handmade by an Egyptian artisan in Tripoli. The wallpaper, produced in “domino” sheets to be manually installed by the artisan and decorator Francois Le Roch, is hand painted in Saint Pandelon.
With this project the architect embarks on a journey into Milanese craftsmanship and invites the ceramist Bérengère Lux, a Swiss artist who has been based in Milan for many years. Bérengère’s ceramics possess a sensual language that resonates with Annabel’s aesthetic; they are the result of deep research and continuous experimentation with the layering of colours and finishes.
The library and a composition of three tables made of stainless steel and wood — together extending to seven metres in length — will host a daily late-morning public conversation curated by George Kerevan and Francesca Grassi. Five writers from the worlds of the novel, astrology and screenwriting will engage in dialogue with the curators and read excerpts from their works. The central question guiding the discussions is: “Is Europe still creative?” The project aims to stimulate profound reflection among the international audience of the Fuorisalone: a global community of creatives, designers and innovators. The meetings will take place over a convivial breakfast, a format that encourages open exchange and the spontaneous circulation of ideas.
Punk Witch is an innovative hub — with grass instead of carpets!
