Vesper Voyage embarks beyond everyday perception.

Inside Vesper Milano’s atelier at Foro Buonaparte 69, the lectern designed by Lotto Studio for Vesper Voyage is on display.

Made from stainless steel tubing, natural rubber and cast rubber, the lectern intertwines structural precision with tactile softness. The slender steel frame defines a minimal silhouette that keeps the focus on the performer, while the rubber surface, fixed with metal rivets, introduces a skin-like translucency and warmth, gently framing both text and music.

At the center of the structure is a relief derived from The Three Graces, the iconic sculpture by Leonhard Kern, scanned from the original preserved at the Bode Museum. Cast in natural rubber, the sculptural group depicts three figures suspended in a silent exchange between three entities; their rotating bodies symbolically evoke the triangulation that unfolds during the performance — a dialogue between audience, performer and musician.

Around the lectern an audio work takes shape, drawn from the commissioned live performance: Maddalena Iodice, artist and performer, wrote and performed the poem, while contemporary electronic musician Mario Lorenzo Francese composed an electronic score in direct response to the reading. Voice and composition develop as a shared language, reinforcing the presence of the lectern through resonance, rhythm and atmosphere, allowing sound and form to remain in continuous dialogue.

About LOTTO Studio

Based in Berlin, Mirko Ihrig and Casey Lewis lead LOTTO, a design studio operating across industrial design, interiors and spatial artefacts. Through a process rooted in reference, narrative and recontextualisation, the studio reinterprets familiar materials and construction methods, shifting them into new contexts.

Alongside selected collaborations with brands such as Marsèll, Camper and U-Joints, LOTTO also develops self-initiated projects grounded in research and material experimentation. The studio’s work has been exhibited at Alcova and Drop City in Milan, Forma Gallery in Berlin and 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen.

These projects often occupy a space between object and architecture. Drawing from the founders’ complementary backgrounds in industrial and spatial design, LOTTO approaches objects as tools that, through structure and material, support gesture, use and bodily presence.

About Maddalena Iodice

Maddalena Iodice (1992, Italy) is a performance artist. Her research conceives the body as a space of embodied knowledge — a porous threshold where stories, desires and modes of sensing converge and transform.

Experimenting with poetic language, movement and the use of voice, her work unfolds into immersive sonic-verbal landscapes suspended between abstract narration and vocal visceralness. She lives and works between London and Milan.

She holds a Master’s degree in Culture, Criticism and Curation from Central Saint Martins in London and is co-founder of Provinciale11, a research collective dedicated to interdisciplinary residency projects.

Recent performances include Prossima Distanza with Giuditta Vettese at Museo Triennale, Milan (2025), Controlingua at The George Tavern, London (2025), and Controlingua at Festival della Filosofia, Modena (2025).

About Mario Lorenzo Francese

Mario Lorenzo Francese (1997, Italy) is a musician, producer and songwriter with a classical background in piano and film engineering. He combines compositional skills with contemporary production, working across writing, arrangement and sound research.

He is keyboardist, producer and songwriter in the duo Santi Francesi, winners of X-Factor Italy 2022, with whom he performed at the Sanremo Music Festival 2024 and regularly performs in Italian festivals and clubs, alongside continuous studio work.

He lives in Milan, where he also develops solo piano projects and sound design practices, exploring timbre and sound construction in more experimental contexts.
