Brera Design District

An experiential space dedicated to the rediscovery of time

The Grand Seiko house, in via Palermo 16, will be divided into several areas, each of which will offer visitors different suggestions and experiences:

Zen Garden

The circuit begins with a Zen garden recreated within the space. Precious bonsai create an enchanting and evocative corner of the Far East, a spiritual place, a unique dreamlike atmosphere of rich symbolism.

Tea ceremony

Grand Seiko celebrates the value of ritual in Japanese culture by performing the tea ceremony in a dedicated room set up in full Japanese style – furniture, seating, utensils, tokonoma – to deliver an original experience presided over by a tea ceremony master.

Artistic performance

Visitors to the Grand Seiko house can enjoy the exclusive experience of watching a work of art come to life and observe the gestures and the expression of creativity while seated on cushions on the floor.

Throughout the week, an artist will create a live work inspired by Grand Seiko’s concept of time.

Workshop

In the same room, various workshops will also take place (by reservation only) during which Japanese culture will be explored through different techniques: Shodo, Japanese calligraphy, Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, and Origami, the process of creating figures by folding paper.

The Grand Seiko Exhibition

The journey through the rooms of the “Grand Seiko House” leads to a presentation of the brand’s watches: 14 spectacular display cases will provide the backdrop for the collections. It’s a circuit that allows visitors to admire the excellence of the mechanics combined with the meticulous care devoted to the craftsmanship of the Takumi artisans, bringing to life the Japanese concept of the flow of time by which Grand Seiko is inspired.

Temporary Store

There will also be an area where Grand Seiko watches can be explored further and purchased on site. There will be a temporary store in operation within the location from 17 to 23 April only, created in collaboration with the brand’s partner Verga 1947.
