Perceiving China Through Design
To help the world better understand the style of Chinese art and design, showcase the latest achievements and explorations in China’s design education, promote academic exchange and collaborative innovation among institutions, and foster the high-quality development of design education, the Organizing Committee of the Exhibition of Outstanding Works by Teachers and Students from Chinese Universities will take the opportunity of Milan Design Week to launch the Design Academic Week and the exhibition "Perceiving China Through Design" at the Luiss Hub in Milan.
This initiative aims to highlight the vitality and innovative strength of design education in China, tell the story of the deep integration between Chinese design and society, culture, and technology, and showcase the unique value of Eastern aesthetics within the context of contemporary design. It seeks to offer new perspectives and inspirations enriched by Eastern wisdom to the global design community.
The Design Academic Week and the exhibition "Perceiving China Through Design" will bring together universities, design institutions, companies, and other stakeholders to curate and present a series of high-level, multi-dimensional academic and exchange activities. These include the Exhibition of Outstanding Works by Teachers and Students from Chinese Universities, Thematic Exhibition of University Teaching Achievements, academic seminars, industry matchmaking meetings, creative workshops, cultural and creative university markets, and joint exhibitions of school-enterprise collaborations.
The event will focus on key themes such as "Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning" and "Innovative Coexistence", creating a diverse and inclusive platform for display, communication, and learning among designers from China and around the world.
Through the universal language of design, the world will gain a more vivid and in-depth perception of China, better understand the cultural roots and contemporary spirit of Chinese design, and work together to bring Chinese design onto the global stage — contributing creativity and wisdom to the sustainable development and innovative practices of all humanity.
