Sinfonia Vulcanica

Lava stone becomes sound, colour, and design in Milan.
At the heart of Nerosicilia’s narrative for Milan Design Week 2025 is Sinfonia Vulcanica, an installation by Leonardo Talarico—an artwork that celebrates the dialogue between matter and sound. A monumental nine-metre-high piano stretches towards the sky, its keyboard dissolving into infinity.
Forged from lava stone and metal, it becomes the stage for a unique symphony: from its depths emerge Cubo, lava stone speakers designed by Nerolabstudio and created in collaboration with DoDeca.
Here, silence transforms into melody. Musicians from the Conservatorio di Milano play their notes, which resonate through the stone, reverberate in the air, and become echoes and memory. A mirrored platform on the ground multiplies the keyboard, amplifying the connection between sound and matter, between the visible and the invisible. A moment where design and music merge, allowing the once-silent stone to finally sing.
The company’s journey continues at the Nerosicilia showroom in Via Solferino 18, where Bluse makes its debut—a collection of vibrant surfaces inspired by Impressionist brushstrokes and 19th-century sailor blouses. Designed by Jpeglab, Bluse transforms lava stone into a story of light and dynamic textures through the Colorfield technique.
Through installations, performances, and new collections, Nerosicilia explores a material that resonates, reflects, and transforms into pure emotion.
Sinfonia Vulcanica is created in collaboration with the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi of Milan.
