The concept beyond photography

Max Falsetta Spina takes an unprecedented and radical step: her parametric photographs arrive at a three-dimensionality that asks the observer to "enter" into her surprising works.

Capable of interpreting the three-dimensionality with great expressiveness, photography remains however a bit' captive of a two-dimensionality to which in time it has often tried to escape.

To do so, he found in artistic research a possible solution that did not limit itself, as in the case of stereo filming, to surprising affection.

Max Falsetta Spina, a young multifaceted author, has moved along this line: from a training that led him to express himself in the field of applied scenography, he has experimented with deeply innovative solutions, finding sources of inspiration in the works of those who, from Umberto Boccioni to David Hockney, has creatively compared itself with the dimension of space.

If the initial works were focused on the technique of collage applied to the portrait and on that of multiplication of planes to obtain discomposed images of futurible architectures, in more recent times the author has radicalized his research.

New works have been born that we could call metaphotographic because they were born from the intention of going beyond in order to dialectically overcome the traditional relationship between object and subject.

The clear lines that define the perspectives enter into the life of the image and affect the surface of the photographic paper to allow it to fold over itself and open up, like an unprecedented sculpture, to three-dimensionality.

Max Falsetta Spina invites the viewer to search for the uncontaminated space hidden behind the image, and the observer is confronted with a mirrored surface.

This is what reveals an ancient and yet contemporary truth: every work exists in the awareness of those who watch it.

The idea of putting photography in communication with its characteristic two-dimensionality with the design of objects and interior architecture able by their nature to open up multiple three-dimensional visions shares the work of Max Falsetta Spina to that of Davide Tremolada Enterprising.
Among the lines of furniture designed by the latter and produced by his carpentry series DIGITALE Slide, a collection of containers with photographic sliding doors and photoSHOWall, the wall designed to create IGIGANTI installations through the decomposition of an image, were chosen to create two special objects for the event parametric photography at Foro Buonaparte 67 space in the framework of Brera Design District 2025.
