Rooms for Stories. From Seat to Seed.

During Milan Design Week 2026, Kave Home presents Rooms for Stories: From Seat to Seed at its Milan flagship store, an installation that uncovers the hidden journey behind one of its most iconic pieces: the Jan armchair. Developed by Sara Ricciardi Studio, the concept draws inspiration from the chair’s iconic form to introduce a new version crafted from an innovative plant-based material that incorporates persimmon.

In collaboration with a local supplier from Valencia, the project reinterprets the Jan armchair using a material made from surplus persimmon harvests from the region. This approach highlights themes such as territory, responsibility, and the quiet transformation of matter, giving value to what often goes unnoticed.

The installation unfolds as a reverse narrative, tracing the chair from its finished form back to its origins. Each space offers a moment to pause, inviting visitors to slow down and observe the process, revealing how every object is shaped by the decisions, landscapes, and relationships that define its lifecycle.

At the heart of the project is this new material: an innovative cotton fabric with a plant-based layer that incorporates persimmon that envelops the Jan armchair and gives it a renewed presence. Its texture and depth evoke a return to origins, connecting design with the land it comes from, while preserving the identity and character that have always defined the piece.

At Kave Home’s Milan flagship store, Rooms for Stories invites visitors to discover what usually remains hidden—a quiet journey that reveals the origins of what we sit on every day and reminds us that every object carries a story worth telling.
