Beyond the shape

An installation project curated by Studio Federico Peri
Beyond the shape, unfolding ideas and project stories.
Beyond the shape as the title of the museum-like installation by Studio Federico Peri conceived to enter the folds of production and tell the company's most intimate design language. Unfolding as the name of Carpanese Home new furniture collection 2025.
Centred on eleven new pieces of furniture, Unfolding reaffirms the partnership with Giorgio Bonaguro and Matteo Zorzenoni, greeting the entry of Simone Bonanni into “Casa Carpanese”. A distinct and refined design voice, Bonanni was invited to “conceive the overarching atmosphere of the intended environments for the furniture, with the purpose of fostering an emotional, and subsequently ergonomic, connection with future users”.
Unfolding thus reveals the findings from Giorgio Bonaguro's study on overlapping and grafting volumes; the dialogue between curved lines and the concept of a multi-functional furnishing system by Matteo Zorzenoni and the exploration of graphic synthesis and form stylization by Simone Bonanni.
A result of shape refinement for a collection consisting of sofas, armchairs, dining tables, seating and furnishing accessories at the crossroads of function, sculpture and balance.
As Paolo Casicci - journalist, lecturer and content curator, among the most influential design-furniture signatures in Italy - wrote in the introduction Unfolding beauty of the new catalogue 2025:"The pieces in the Unfolding collection convey a clear and unmistakable message: there is still a way to turn chatter into dialogue, noise into sound, an interior space into a screenplay, contact into intimacy, and the future into a promise”.
Beyond the shape: the setting
A revealing title to shine a light on the context, beyond the product.
The inception, design choices, production expertise, and heritage linked to the realm of fine cabinetmaking converge in an exhibition crafted to spotlight the eleven new pieces of furniture including sofas, armchairs, dining tables, a seating/sculpture, bookcases and multifunctional wall systems.
Set in the heart of the Brera Design District, Beyond the shape will present each product, with the exception of the bookcase, on a platform with a radius joint between horizontal and vertical surfaces designed to recall a photographic backdrop. On the vertical wall, a visual and narrative collage consisting of “descriptive pictures”, sketches, photographs, catalogue fragments, and moving images will offer insights and information on finishes, processes, and design solutions that transformed complexity into method, method into know-how, and know-how into identity.
A selection of lights by the CTO Lighting brand and a selection of Murano glass vases, glasses and candles by Purho complete the set-up.
